Welcome!
Welcome to the Building Structures Resource website! The purpose of this website is to aid in Topic C of the Grade 3 Alberta Science unit titled “Testing Materials and Designs”. This website can be used to find relevant information and lesson plans to help teach the unit!
Note: this website is not designed as a soul resource to teach the whole unit. Rather, it can be used as a resource to help wrap up the unit by looking at 2 specific types of structures (towers and bridges) and how these structures are successfully built. Then there is a final bridge building project included as well.

What can you expect to find on this website?
On this website you will find video resources, pictures, experiments, lesson plans, games, and much more! There are sections of the website that focus specifically on elements of towers, of different types of bridges (with a final building project), a teacher resource page, and a student resource page. Throughout the website there are also a few VOCAB words that are highlighted and linked to the vocab page! Click on the buttons below to check out those pages right now, or you can find their navigating tabs at any time by scrolling to the top of the website.
Who made this website?
I decided to make this webpage as a way of sharing some of the fun resources that I had discovered while teaching the Testing materials and Designs Unit! When I entered the grade 3 classroom, they were already partway through the unit, so they already had lots of background knowledge about good structures. It was then my duty to teach them about a few specific structures and then have them apply their knowledge in a large final project (also included on this site).
Thanks for visiting! Hope you enjoy the site!
